Tom Rottinghaus

Tom Rottinghaus, a partner with Wagstaff & Cartmell, focuses his trial practice on professional liability, personal injury, and commercial litigation. He has tried cases in Missouri and Kansas state courts on behalf of corporations, physicians, nurses, individuals, and hospitals. He routinely handles cases in the federal courts of Missouri and Kansas.  He has also represented health care providers in administrative hearings before the boards of healing arts in Missouri and Kansas.

Tom graduated from the University of Kansas in 1995 with degrees in Economics and Political Science. He earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School where he was a member of the Law Review. After earning his J.D. in 1998, Tom joined the law firm of Shughart, Thompson, & Kilroy (now Polsinelli Shughart) where he became a partner and practiced until 2010, when he joined Wagstaff & Cartmell.

Missouri Lawyers Weekly named Tom one of Missouri’s “Up and Coming Lawyers” in 2008. He was included among the “Future Stars” in Missouri in Benchmark Litigation’s 2008-2009 Editions, and was also selected by his peers for inclusion among the listing of Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2009. He has an “AV” Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, which he obtained during his first year of eligibility.

Tom is licensed to practice law in the state and Federal courts in both Missouri and Kansas. He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Kansas Bar, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (Health Law Section), the Wyandotte County Bar Association, and the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers
