Marc K. Erickson < back to attorneys Marc Erickson is a partner at Wagstaff & Cartmell LLP. He received his undergraduate degree in 1991, magna cum laude, from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs. Upon graduation from Miami University, he was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He attended law school at the University of Kansas, where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1994 and was awarded The Order of The Coif. After receiving his law degree, Marc joined the law firm of Lathrop & Norquist in Kansas City, Missouri. He practiced at Lathrop & Norquist (and its successor Lathrop & Gage) from 1994 to 1999, working in the areas of personal injury, product liability, construction litigation, media law and real estate litigation. In 1999, Marc joined the law firm of Wagstaff & Cartmell where he practices as a partner in civil trial work in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, employment litigation, media law and municipal zoning law. Marc has tried cases in Kansas and Missouri, state and federal courts. Marc is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. As a result, he has handled claims investigations and litigation in fire and explosion cases throughout the county. Marc has also represented individuals injured through the fault of others. In a lawsuit against J.C. Penney Co., Inc., Marc was able to obtain a confidential settlement for injuries to his client caused when a box fell on his client. In another lawsuit against a drunk driver, Marc was able to obtain a settlement of more than $1 million for the family of his client. Marc has been active in community affairs. He has served as the President of The Johnson County, Kansas Museum of History Board of Trustees and as President of the Johnson County, Kansas Drug and Alcohol Council.
